Clan Shetland invites community to Simmer Dim Teas & Crafts fundraiser

Clan Cancer Support is inviting Shetlanders to come together for a special Simmer Dim Teas & Crafts fundraiser in Aith this summer.

The event will take place on Sunday, June 21 from 12pm to 4pm at Aith Hall on the summer solstice, celebrating Shetland’s famous Simmer Dim while raising vital funds and awareness for the charity.

Members of the public are welcome to drop in throughout the afternoon and enjoy a selection of home bakes, teas and coffees, alongside a variety of handmade craft stalls from small businesses across Shetland. Entry donations are £6 for adults and £3 for children.

Raffles will take place on the day, with winners able to collect prizes from the Islesburgh Community Centre after the event. There will also be an opportunity to buy tickets for a car raffle, which will be drawn later this year. All funds raised will help Clan continue to provide free emotional and physical support for people of all ages who are impacted by a cancer diagnosis across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

Joanna Smith, Clan Shetland area service coordinator said: “The summer solstice is such a special time of year in Shetland, and we wanted to create something that brings people together and supports Clan at the same time.

“We’re really looking forward to welcoming everyone on the day for a relaxed, enjoyable afternoon with crafts, home bakes and plenty of community spirit.”

Clan Shetland is also seeking volunteers to help on the day with a range of roles available. Donations of home bakes and raffle prizes are also welcome. If you are able to help, please contact Clan.

Clan Shetland is based at the Islesburgh Community Centre and is open to clients from 10am – 4pm, Monday to Thursday.
