Based at the MACBI Community Hub, the service offers emotional support, complementary therapies, and dedicated children and family support for anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis – not just the person receiving treatment but also friends, family members, carers and colleagues.
The centre hosts regular drop-in sessions every Tuesday and Wednesday from 10am to 4pm.
As part of continued investment across its north Aberdeenshire service, Clan has welcomed three new members of staff:
- John Cardno – Support Services Area Manager (Grampian)
- Dionne Greig – Area Services Coordinator (Grampian)
- Ron Strachan – Community Services Coordinator (Grampian)
Together, they strengthen Clan's local presence and will help ensure more people across north Aberdeenshire can access free, compassionate support closer to home.
Alongside these appointments, Clan has expanded its programme of complementary therapies based at the Mintlaw centre, including the introduction of reiki and reflexology. A new walking group will also launch in August to support the physical and emotional wellbeing of local people impacted by cancer.
The walking group will take place from the Mintlaw centre every Wednesday from 10.30am to 12 noon, starting on Wednesday 12 August. The group is open to anyone impacted by cancer, including those living with a diagnosis, family members, friends and carers.
The walks will provide an opportunity to enjoy gentle physical activity, spend time outdoors and connect with others who understand the challenges of a cancer journey. Participants can walk at their own pace while benefiting from peer support in an informal and friendly setting.

That's why we're committed to bringing our services closer to where people live, ensuring everyone impacted by cancer can access the help they need.
“This refreshed service reflects our continued investment in community-based support, making it easier for people in rural Aberdeenshire to access practical and emotional support without having to travel long distances.
"We know from our well-established walking group in Aberdeen, that these sessions can have a lasting impact, helping people build friendships, boost their confidence and feel less isolated and we’re excited to bring this opportunity to Mintlaw.”
Clan is also recruiting volunteer walk leaders, along with listening and support volunteers, to help deliver its services across the area. No prior experience is required, as comprehensive training and support will be provided.
