Clan looking for volunteers in Mintlaw to support people impacted by cancer

Clan Cancer Support is hosting a volunteering open day in Mintlaw next month on Tuesday, June 2 to encourage individuals to use their free time to support local people impacted by cancer.

The charity is currently seeking volunteers to offer its vital listening and support service which enables people impacted by a diagnosis to speak to someone about their cancer journey.

No experience is required with all training provided by Clan. The charity recommends that volunteers commit to a minimum of three and a half hours per week.

As part of Volunteers Week, the volunteers’ open day will take place next month on Friday, June 2 from 5-7pm at Clan’s centre based at the Macabi Community Hub, Newlands Road, Mintlaw.

Attendees are welcome to drop-in throughout the event, with Clan team members on hand to share more about the charity’s work and highlight current volunteering opportunities in the local community.

John Cardno, area services manager said: “You don’t need to be a cancer expert to be a volunteer with Clan. You do need to be a good listener and willing and give your time. In return, you’ll receive full training and the opportunity to play and important role in your local community.”

“Volunteering benefits both Clan and its volunteers. It plays a vital role in enabling us to run our services, while also giving people the chance to gain valuable experience, build friendships and develop new skills.”

John added: “As part of our Volunteers Week events across our centres, we’d encourage anyone who is interested to come along, find out more, and see how they could get involved with Clan in their local area.”
