Listening and Support Volunteers

Clan's Listening and Support volunteers are essential in helping to provide our vital Listening and Support service to people affected by a cancer diagnosis in your local community. The listening and support service offers a welcoming, relaxed, safe, and confidential environment for people to talk about the cancer experience with someone who can listen and provide emotional and wellbeing support either face to face or by telephone.

Event Volunteers

A Clan Event Volunteer is essential in helping to generate the funds needed for us to provide our vital support services to people affected by a cancer diagnosis in your local community. You could be asked to get involved in a variety of activities, whether it’s manning a cheering point on one of our runs, walks or cycles, helping to welcome guests at our annual lunch or ball, or providing information at one of our open days.

Shop Volunteers

It is Clan's Shop Volunteers role to assist the shop supervisor with the overall operation of the shop to ensure that sales goals are achieved and exceeded. To provide excellent customer service at all times and ensure a positive customer experience is had by all who enter our shops. To maintain high levels of housekeeping standards.

Driver Volunteers

Clan provides transport from Clan House to and from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary.

Our driver volunteers play a key role in helping clients get to their appointments on time, in a calm and relaxed manner. Volunteer drivers are required to complete the Clan Support Training and undergo a PVG Disclosure.

Children and Family Service Volunteers

Our Children and Families Volunteers are key to helping us provide 1:1 support and therapeutic and fun groups and activities for children and young people affected by cancer. Our groups are mainly held on evenings and weekends so this is an ideal volunteering opportunity for those who have other commitments 9-5 throughout the week and have a desire to support children and young people throughout their cancer journey. Volunteering with our children and families service ranges from supporting practitioners run groups, develop and plan activities for the holidays and provide listening and support to parents on a 1:1 or group basis.

Gardening Volunteers

Your role as a Volunteer Gardener is to maintain, develop and protect our garden so that it can be enjoyed by all Clan clients, staff, volunteers and visitors.

Typical activities include working as a part of a team or on your own initiative to carry out routine maintenance of the Clan garden by:

  • Watering, weeding and planting as needed
  • Cutting the lawn
  • Pruning shrubs, trees and plants
  • Dead-heading as required
  • Keeping pathways clean and cleared of debris
  • Completing other general gardening duties as required under the direction of your designated Clan Contact and other Volunteer Gardeners
