Take a dip on Boxing Day for CLAN

A leading north-east cancer support charity is looking for brave souls to take part in a popular Boxing Day fundraising event on its behalf.

The annual Nippy Dipper event organised by the Aberdeen Lions Club will take place at Aberdeen Beach on December 26 and will see individuals and teams from across the north-east plunge into the North Sea to raise money for a nominated cause. And CLAN Cancer Support is looking for a group of fearless volunteers to take part and help raise funds for the charity.

Last year, nearly 40 people took to the chilly waters on behalf of CLAN, helping raise over £5,000 for the charity, with the money raised going towards its provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer across the north-east of Scotland.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The Nippy Dipper event really has grown in popularity in recent years and we’d be delighted if you chose to take part on behalf of CLAN.

“There is a great party atmosphere throughout the event and despite the freezing conditions, we always see willingness from people to take part. We’d be delighted if you could join us on the day.”

The event begins at 10.30am on Boxing Day. For further information please contact CLAN’s Steph Dowling on 01224 647000.
