Run for CLAN in the New Year

A leading cancer support charity is offering north-east runners the chance to take part in two of the region’s most popular races on its behalf.

CLAN Cancer Support is again a nominated charity for the Baker Hughes 10k which is set to take place on Sunday, May 17. This year’s event saw over 200 individuals lace up their running shoes on behalf of CLAN, helping raise more than £30,000 in the process. The charity also helped provide over 30 marshals to help with the event itself.

As well as the Baker Hughes 10k, the charity also has a limited number of spaces available for the Run Balmoral event which will take place on Saturday, April 25. CLAN has positions available in both the 5k and 10k races, with the routes set to snake through the heart of Balmoral Estate, finishing up in front of the stunning Balmoral Castle. The charity also has five positions available for the 15 mile race and five positions available for the duathlon which will both take place on Sunday, April 26.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “Running really has grown in popularity within the north-east in recent rimes and the Baker Hughes 10k and Run Balmoral events continue to go from strength to strength.

“We’re delighted to be involved with both events again next year and we’re appealing for people to come forward to take part in the races on behalf of CLAN.

“The support the charity has had from runners in the north-east has been nothing short of phenomenal and we’re really looking to continue this at next year’s events. I’d encourage anyone interested in taking part in either race on behalf of CLAN to get in touch and find out more.”
