Hundreds show their support for CLAN at Baker Hughes 10K

Hundreds of runners have shown their support for a leading north-east cancer support charity by taking part in the Baker Hughes 10k road race on its behalf.

Over 200 individuals laced up their running shoes in support of CLAN at the popular event on Sunday (May, 18), helping raise more than £10,000 for the charity with donations still flooding in. The charity also helped provide over 30 marshals to help with the event itself.

Organised by Sport Aberdeen, the beachfront run is the largest 10k race in the north-east and attracts thousands of participants on a yearly basis.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, was delighted with the support shown towards the charity. She said: “CLAN has had a presence at the Baker Hughes 10k for a number of years now and the support for the charity really has grown throughout the time we’ve been involved.

“To have over 200 runners officially take part for CLAN is fantastic and it really was great to see so many CLAN t-shirts among those completing the route. The funds raised will go towards CLAN’s provision of free support services to anyone affected by cancer and I’d like to personally thank each and every person who generously supported CLAN at the race.”

Keen runners will have further chances to support CLAN this year, with the charity having a presence at the upcoming Stonehaven and Scottish half marathons later on in the year.
