Hugh Little Joins CLAN Cancer Support Board of Directors

CLAN Cancer Support has welcomed Hugh Little to its board as Director of Finance as it looks to replace a number of long term board members who are stepping down to undertake new roles on behalf of CLAN.

A well respected member of the north-east business community, Mr Little brings a wealth of experience to the board having had a successful career in the financial sector and a number of non-executive roles in both the public and private sector.

As Head of Acquisitions and Head of Private Equity, Mr Little enjoyed a 29-year career with Aberdeen Asset Management. He has also held previous directorships with Scottish Enterprise Grampian, the Aberdeen Board of the SCDI, Aberdeen Football Club and is currently on the Board of Governors of RGU, Drum Income REIT PLC, TCAM Asset Management Group Limited, Sport Technology Services Ltd and Dark Matter Distillers Limited.

Mr Little said: “I am delighted to be joining the CLAN board at what is an important time for the charity as it develops the community outreach approach to deliver cancer support services as close to people’s homes as possible.

“I am very lucky to have been in a position to work with a diverse range of businesses and organisations throughout my career. Giving my time and assistance, sharing this wealth of knowledge and experience with the team at CLAN is something I feel privileged to be in a position to do.

“When a family member or loved one is affected by cancer, the impact can be felt much further than you would imagine. Organisations like CLAN provide vital resources and support during what can be extremely confusing and difficult times for people.

“I’m very much looking forward to sitting on the CLAN Board and helping to raise awareness of the work the organisation carries out on a daily basis right in the heart of communities throughout the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”

CLAN’s board currently consists of 11 members and is chaired by local businessman Kenny Anderson who took up the position in 2014. All board members share their time with the charity and work closely with CLAN’s management team on a voluntary basis to ensure the charity’s ongoing success.

Kenny said: “I am delighted to welcome Hugh to the CLAN board. To be able to announce the first addition to the board with such a well-respected figure in the north-east business community is fantastic news for CLAN.

“We are extremely lucky to have such a diverse and active board and we will be sad to say goodbye to those who are stepping down. However, we have had a great response from those wishing to join us and the addition of Hugh, and other board members who will be announced shortly, is a very positive opportunity for the future.”
