CLAN Welcomes New Finance Director

CLAN Cancer Support has announced the appointment of new Finance Director to its Board.

Katy Gifford was appointed after the role was vacated by Hugh Little who was appointed as Chairman at the charity’s AGM in January.

Mrs Gifford has more than 30 years’ experience at senior levels in a variety of energy industry companies.

She is currently Chief Financial Officer of Aubin Group, a company engaged in the design and development of specialist chemicals for use in the global oil and gas industry. .

CLAN’s board currently consists of 11 trustees who work closely with CLAN’s management team on a voluntary basis to ensure good governance and the charity’s ongoing success.

Mrs Gifford said: “I’m delighted to join the team at CLAN, a charity which does so much to help so many people affected by cancer across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, and use my experience to support the charity provide the best possible support to clients.

“A recent personal experience of an unexpected cancer diagnosis has given me an understanding of the types of support that are available from charities like CLAN which people might find useful.

"Prior to moving to Aberdeen, I lived in a remote part of the west coast of Scotland, so I understand the support required when specialist medical support is not on your doorstep.

"CLAN works to make sure that everyone in the areas it serves receives the support they need, something I know that is deeply valued by the local community.”

Hugh Little, CLAN Cancer Support Chairman, said: “We are very pleased to welcome Katy to the Board. Katy’s wealth of industry experience in the private and charitable business sector will be invaluable to CLAN.

"Sound financial management is important for any organisation and with Katy’s leadership CLAN can continue to build on a strong start to 2018 which has seen CLAN open a new wellbeing and support centre at the Crimond Health and Community Hub as well as launch a new programme of key fundraising events.”
