Outreach Services Launched In Forres

Forres-02

A leading north-east cancer support charity will launch a new outreach service in Forres this spring to provide information and support to those affected by a cancer diagnosis.

CLAN Cancer Support will host its new drop-in and support services at the Forres Health & Care Centre on the town’s Grantown Road.

They will be available from Friday, April 6 which will also be an open session for members of the community to find out more.

Thereafter, services will be available on the first and third Friday of each month from 1.30pm to 3.30pm for an initial three-month trial period.

Clients will be able to access information, support and find out about other services in the area.

The charity would also like to build a team of volunteers from the town to support the new services and has urged anyone interested to get in touch.

Tracy Sellar, Area Services Manager for CLAN Cancer Support, said: “We are delighted to be able to establish a presence in Forres thanks to the support of the Forres Health & Care Centre.

“The new drop-in information and support services for anyone affected by cancer have been created in response to a growing need within the local community for services which can be accessed as close to people’s homes and communities as possible.

“This community centred approach to outreach services has already proved to be a success with CLAN Moray already providing support in this way within Buckie and Lossiemouth medical practices.

“I’d encourage anyone who feels they may benefit by accessing additional information or support to come along and find out more. The sessions are open to anyone affected by cancer and are relaxed and informal.

“We also aim to build a team of volunteers in Forres to help support our services in the town. We would be interested in hearing from anyone who would be willing to spare some time to volunteer with us.”
