CLAN shops busy start to 2014

CLAN Cancer Support has said thank you to those who have helped get their city charity shops off to a flying start in 2014.

CLAN’s shops on Rosemount Place and Chapel Street in Aberdeen have continued to pick up where they left off after the busy festive period, with donations of stock and sales remaining high.

Both shops feature a range of quality donated goods, with clothes, books and various pieces of homeware among the most popular items. A sale during the first week of January has also contributed to the busy period, with shoppers cashing in on the chance to add to their wardrobe without breaking the bank.

Lorna Gates, CLAN’s senior shop manager has thanked those who have supported the stores over the last few months as they look to continue this momentum throughout the year.

She said: “Like any other retail outlet, December is always a busy time for our Rosemount and Chapel Street shops and it’s great that we’ve been able to continue this momentum into January and 2014.

“The support for both shops, in terms of donations and sales, has been fantastic and I’d like to personally thank those who have either put forward stock or purchased an item; your help is greatly appreciated by so many connected to CLAN.

“Although it’s been a busy start to the year, we’re of course appealing to people to continue their donations and their visits to the shops as it really does generate valuable funds that help CLAN in its provision of free support services for anyone affected by cancer. You’ll be amazed at what treasures you may find and it really is a chance to pick up a quality item without overspending.”

CLAN’s city charity shops on Rosemount Place and Chapel Street are open from Monday to Friday, 10am to 4pm and on Saturdays, from 10am to 1pm. Donations can be made in person with the charity looking specifically for men’s and ladies clothing, unused gifts, games, mobile phones and seasonal decorations. The organisation also has thriving shops in Ballater, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
