In Inverurie, starting on Thursday, February 6, a team member will be present at the ACORN Centre, Inverurie West Parish Church on the town’s West High Street every two weeks.

The children and family’s service provide information and give children and young people the chance to explore their feelings in a safe and secure environment. All members of the team are trained to undertake loss and bereavement counselling.

Iona Mitchell, CLAN’s children and family services manager, said: “A cancer diagnosis can have a profound effect on children and young people and it’s often difficult for youngsters to open up and share their thoughts and fears with other family members.

“We’ve been providing support to children and young people in Elgin and Inverurie through a number of different methods, however we have now expanded that support to ensure that there will be a member of the team present within each town every two weeks. People are encouraged to drop-in to hear more about how we can help.

“Our experienced children and family’s team provide an ear for children, young people and adults to talk too and allows them the opportunity to explore what are often difficult feelings in a trusting and understanding setting. We’re here to help in any way that we can.”
