CLAN Appeals For New Moray Volunteers To Come Forward

Elgin

CLAN Cancer Support is looking for new volunteers to share their time and expertise with the charity to assist its work in areas including, Elgin, Lossiemouth and Buckie.

The charity offers a wide range of opportunities for those wishing to volunteer throughout the Moray area. The charity relies on a dedicated team of support volunteers, specialist roles such as volunteer drivers, and also roles which see individuals represent CLAN at local fundraising and awareness events.

CLAN’s support volunteers play a key role in supporting people affected by cancer, signposting to information and advice and providing emotional support for those visiting CLAN’s drop-in services at its wellbeing and support centre in Elgin and outreach services in Buckie and Lossiemouth.

The charity also requires volunteer drivers to transport clients to Dr Gray’s Hospital in Elgin, as well as clients visiting Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for treatment and appointments.

Tracy Sellar, CLAN’s Services Area Manager, said: “CLAN’s volunteers are a huge part of the charity’s on-going success and we’ve identified a need to expand our dedicated team in the Moray area.

“At CLAN we ensure that volunteering is a two-way process. We regularly hear how much volunteers get out of the experience of volunteering with us, and our clients benefit from the highest levels of support and information. Our volunteers really are the lifeblood of our service, we couldn’t provide the level of services we do without the time and expertise that people give us.”

“Currently, throughout Moray we have opportunities for support and event volunteers, and we would be delighted to hear from anyone who would like to find out more about how their time could really make a difference to people affected by cancer in the heart of local communities.”
