CLAN announces changes to its Board

CLAN Cancer Support has announced a number of changes to its board of directors.

Kenny Anderson has been appointed as the charity’s new chairman. He takes over from Robbie Duncan who previously held the position for the last two years.

After initially training as a quantity surveyor in Aberdeen from 1977, Kenny established Anderson Construction in 1993 and later Anderson Buchan Properties. He is a fellow and former chairman of the Chartered Institute of Building in Scotland (CIOB) and was an elected trustee of the entire CIOB from 2009 to 2012

Kenny Anderson commented: “Cancer care is something I hold incredibly close to my heart and I have the utmost respect and regard for charitable agencies that provide help and support to those who are affected by cancer.

“It’s an honour to be taking up the role as chairman of CLAN Cancer Support and I’m thoroughly looking forward to working alongside the existing board members, chief executive Debbie Thomson and other stakeholders to work together to further enhance the charity’s reputation as a leading provider of free cancer support services.”

Robbie Duncan will remain with the charity in a past chairman role, with Andrew Spence joining Gregory Poon as CLAN’s second vice-chair.

CLAN has also announced the addition of Ken Gordon, a senior partner at Burness Paull and Fraser Moonie, chief operating officer for the east division of Bibby Offshore, as new board members.

CLAN’s chief executive Debbie Thomson, said: “We are all delighted to welcome Kenny, Ken and Fraser to CLAN. Their range of skills and expertise has added to the strength of our board and I am very much looking forward to working with Kenny as our new chairman and all our board members throughout 2015.”

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness.

Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Banchory, Elgin, Inverurie, Fraserburgh, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Turriff, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
