Travel and Accommodation Support
Need to travel for cancer treatment and hospital appointments in Aberdeen, Elgin or Inverness? We provide transport and Aberdeen-based accommodation services to offer peace of mind and convenience.
We operate a 27 bedroom accommodation facility at Clan House in Aberdeen, just a short drive from Aberdeen Royal Infirmary (ARI). All guests at Clan House have access to Clan’s complementary transport service which runs Monday - Friday, with drop-off and collection times synced with guest appointment times. Clan also provides free patient transport for clients in Moray for medical appointments in Aberdeen, Elgin and Inverness.
Clan provides free physical and emotional support for people of all ages and with all types of cancers from our network of wellbeing centres across North East Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

Need someone to talk to about your or a loved one’s cancer diagnosis? At Clan, we can give you time and space to talk to someone who understands your feelings. Support is available at all of our centres from trained staff and support volunteers.

Cut down on travel miles by staying close to Aberdeen Royal Infirmary for cancer treatment. Clan’s accommodation service is available for treatment patients at ARI, as well as their family and loved ones. We provide a safe, supportive and comfortable place to stay for anyone who needs to be there, with free transport to and from ARI.

Clan’s complementary therapies include massage therapy, aromatherapy, reflexology and more. They are for anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis, including young people. They align with the credible therapies provided by the NHS, ensuring a continuation of care in the community for those affected by cancer.

For young people navigating a cancer diagnosis for themselves or dealing with the diagnosis of a loved one, Clan can provide specialist support. Our Children and Family Services (CFS) team is trained to deliver age-appropriate support to empower them to build resilience and adopt healthy habits when facing change and loss.

Clan’s Support Groups are open to anyone affected by a cancer diagnosis, including loved ones of patients. They offer opportunities for those affected by cancer to meet others in a discreet and welcoming environment — supportive and welcoming gatherings for those navigating a diagnosis and their loved ones.

Interested in booking accommodation with Clan Cancer Support? Here’s a quick guide to the usual steps in the process.
Step 1:
Contact Clan Accommodation
You can book by calling Clan Accommodation on 01224 651300. Anyone affected by cancer—whether undergoing treatment at ARI or supporting someone who is — can stay with us.
Step 2:
Agree Booking Details
When making your reservation, we will confirm the room cost based on the number of guests. We will ask for the reason for your stay, along with your name, address, mobile number, email address, and the dates required. We will also check for any mobility needs and whether you prefer an upstairs or downstairs room. At this stage, we will reconfirm your arrival date, departure date and estimated arrival time.
Step 3:
Booking Confirmation
You will receive a confirmation email outlining the details of your stay, including the facilities available and what is provided during your visit.
Step 4:
Arrive at Clan Accommodation
Upon arrival, we will ask you to complete some brief bits of paperwork. A member of the team will then provide a tour of the accommodation, explaining how to access the building using your personal key fob and showing you to your room so you can settle in. We will also reconfirm your expected departure date, in case new information has been provided by ARI.
Step 5:
Making Adjustments and Changing Plans
Prior to and during your stay, we kindly ask that you keep us informed of any changes to your plans, particularly if you need to extend or shorten your stay. This ensures we can do everything possible to accommodate this.
Step 6:
Departure and Payment
Payment for Clan accommodation can be made the night before departure or on the day you leave. We accept card, cheque and cash payments. A fully itemised receipt can be provided at the time of payment.
Need a lift to and from your hospital appointments? Here’s a quick guide to the usual steps in the process for people staying at Clan accommodation.
Step 1:
Check-In
When checking in, please provide the Client Relations team with the time of your first hospital appointment. You will also be asked about your cancer type. This information helps us determine how early you need to arrive for your appointment.
Step 2:
Share Your Appointment Schedule
After your first appointment, the hospital will give you the schedule for your remaining visits. Please pass this information to our minibus driver, or to the Client Relations team at reception.
Step 3:
Travel
Our team will advise you of your collection time in advance. Please ensure you are ready and waiting at the designated minibus stop area at the agreed time, and we’ll be ready to take you to and from your appointments.
Clan is not a medical centre and our staff and volunteers do not offer any medical advice. We specialise in providing emotional and physical support to anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis. We are a trusted NHS partner with x% of our referrals coming from medical professionals
Anyone with a cancer diagnosis can access our services, along with their immediate family and loved ones including relatives, friends and colleagues. This is because we know that cancer impacts more than just the person with the diagnosis.
All of Clan’s services are free, with the exception of our accommodation which costs £XX per night. Dependant on your location, you may be entitled to access funding to support the cost of your stay, but this is not something which is organised by Clan.
