This is a rewarding role that combines team leadership, service development and hands-on therapeutic support. You’ll lead a team of five CFS Practitioners, while also maintaining your own client work and helping shape how we respond to the changing needs of children, young people and families affected by cancer.
What you will be doing
You’ll work closely with our Head of Cancer Support Services to develop a professional, responsive and accessible service across the region. This will include:
- Leading, supporting and developing a geographically dispersed team of CFS Practitioners.
- Managing referrals, caseloads and service capacity, using client data and trends to identify emerging needs.
- Supporting children and young people experiencing anxiety, loss, grief and bereavement.
- Building strong partnerships across Health, Education, Social Work and the Third Sector.
- Developing groups, programmes and new approaches to meet identified needs.
- Supporting safeguarding practice and training across Clan.
- Contributing to service planning, evaluation, funding applications and reporting.
- Representing Clan through professional networks, workshops, presentations and community events.
The role involves travel across Aberdeen City, Aberdeenshire, Moray, Shetland, Orkney and surrounding areas, with occasional evening and weekend work.
What we’re looking for
We’re looking for someone who combines strong leadership skills with genuine passion for supporting children and families.
You’ll need:
- A professional qualification in Social Care, Social Work, Teaching, Nursing, Psychology, Counselling or a related discipline.
- Experience of leading and managing staff and services.
- Strong experience of working with children and families.
- Experience developing and evaluating both 1:1 and group support.
- An understanding of child protection, risk management and GIRFEC.
- Excellent communication, organisational and partnership-working skills.
- The ability to build trusted relationships with children, families and professional partners.
- Confidence delivering presentations and training.
- A full driving licence and access to a car.
Experience of working with children and families affected by long-term illness, and experience in loss and bereavement work, would be highly desirable.
