Sinclairs Anniversary Ball Adds to Fundraising Total

A popular north-east family jeweller is on course to reach its £40,000 fundraising target after it officially marked 40 years in business with a glitzy anniversary ball.

Sinclairs in Inverurie had set itself the task of raising the impressive sum for local charities Befriend a Child and CLAN Cancer Support and has so far raised a grand total of £35,000 after completing a number of events throughout the year.

It most recently celebrated the milestone in style when it welcomed guests to its anniversary ball at Thainstone Exchange on Saturday, October 31. Attendees were treated to an evening of food and entertainment, with music from the Graham Geddes Band, a charity auction and a raffle alongside guest speakers adding to the memorable night. The event helped add £11,000 to the overall fundraising total.

The night also marked a celebration for three of the jeweller’s members of staff, after they had chosen to go Sober in October to raise funds as part of the Sinclairs campaign. Janice Cole, Marian Hartley & Fiona Ingram toasted their success at the event after their efforts helped add an impressive £400 to the campaign’s total.

The shop itself has also been playing its part, selling a range of Halloween cakes in aid of both charities and with more activities planned as it moves into the busy Christmas period, confidence is high that the £40,000 target can be met.

Ian Sinclair, owner of Sinclairs Jewellers, said: “We had an absolutely fantastic night at our anniversary ball and I’d like to express my gratitude to all those who attended. I’d also like to thank the volunteers from both CLAN and Befriend a Child who helped on the night as well as the Thainstone Exchange staff that made us feel so welcome.

“It’s not every day a local business can celebrate its 40th year and it was great to mark the milestone with so many friendly faces who have helped make Sinclairs such a success over the years. To raise over £11,000 on the night really was the icing on the cake and it goes a long way to helping us meet our target of £40,000.

“We have a number of things planned between now and Christmas to help us get over the line with our goal and I can’t stress enough just how supportive our loyal customers have been. It’s been a great 10 months so far and we look forward to adding to it even more between now and the end of the year.”

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “I speak for all associated with CLAN when I say we have been so impressed with the team at Sinclairs and its efforts this year so far. Every event organised has been a resounding success and the love shown towards the jeweller from its customers and campaign supporters has been there for all to see.

“Sinclairs should be incredibly proud of its achievements so far this year and we’re thrilled to have been a part of its special year.”

Lana Bambridge, development and resources manager at Befriend a Child, said: “The Sinclairs 40th Anniversary Ball was another brilliantly organised event. The generosity and enthusiasm with which they have supported Befriend a Child and CLAN this year are a real testament to their values and dedication to the local community and will go a long way to supporting those in need.”
