Popular Walk returns to the Granite City

Our popular fundraising walk that attracts hundreds of people is set to return to the Granite City for a third time.

CLAN Cancer Support’s Landmark Walk will be held on September 27 this year and feature two routes of either 13 or 7.8 miles.

Participants will take in a range of iconic spots and landmarks throughout the city during the event, which raised tens of thousands of pounds for CLAN in 2014.

CLAN is now on the look-out for more than 300 volunteers to help marshal on the day.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said the walk has become one of CLAN’s most popular fundraising events.

“We have been blown away with the support we have received from the public and local businesses since the inaugural Landmark Walk in 2013 and we are delighted to be holding it again. Last year’s event was a tremendous success and it was wonderful to see so many walkers and volunteers take to the streets of Aberdeen for CLAN,” she said.

“We hope those supporters will return in September and help us spread the message to make it the best walk yet. We got great feedback from participants after the last event and the anticipation for it gets bigger every year. It is a fantastic and fun way to raise money for CLAN while also enjoying some of the great sights that Aberdeen has to offer. We expect interest to be strong this year and are currently looking for individuals, groups of friends, businesses and companies to join us in the walk to help raise funds and awareness for CLAN."

Last year the event drew in more than 430 walkers who helped raise more than £50,000 for the charity.
