Phone system donation gets people talking

The importance of communication has been reinforced at CLAN Cancer Support after it was the recent beneficiary of a new £25,000 Alcatel telephone system.

CLAN has been given the generous donation by Alan and Kim Law of local telecoms provider AL Global 4 Phones, with the new system set to be rolled out across the charity’s ever increasing range of north-east bases and charity shops.

The advantage of the new communications system designed and supplied by A L Global will allow CLAN to talk to its multi-site bases free of charge, saving them a substantial amount of money on site to site call costs.

Sandy Riach, CLAN’s facilities manager, said: “Communication via telephone plays a massive role here at CLAN; it is often the first link between the charity and its clients and it is incredibly important for the internal sharing of information between our teams across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

“Everyone at CLAN would like to offer their sincere thanks to AL Global 4 Phones for what is an incredibly generous donation. The benefits that this can bring to the charity as a whole are massive and I can’t stress enough just how big a help this will be to the success of our overall operations.”

For AL Global 4 Phones, the significant donation is a result of Alan and Kim’s desire to help a local cancer charity after previously losing both their fathers to the illness. When the opportunity arose to help CLAN, they simply felt it was the right thing to do.

Alan Law, who is the company’s technical director, explained more about his reasons for the donation to CLAN: “On hearing more about CLAN and the great work it does in Aberdeen and the north-east of Scotland and beyond, we’re delighted that the charity has taken up our offer of installing a new phone system throughout all of its regional bases and shops.

“After seeing first-hand the great work the charity does for people affected by cancer within the region, I’d definitely encourage anyone who thinks they may benefit from some time with the charity to come forward and find out more. That single phone call could make a massive difference.”
