New Head Of Cancer Support Services For CLAN

Iona-Mitchell

CLAN Cancer Support has announced the appointment of a new senior manager to lead and develop the delivery of its services in the community.

Mrs Iona Mitchell has been appointed as the charity’s Head of Cancer Support Services after initially holding the role of Interim Services Manager since December 2016.

Iona joined CLAN in September 2013 as Children & Families Services Manager and played a key role in developing the service in the charity’s community bases, particularly in Elgin and Shetland.

As part of her new role, Mrs Mitchell will work to develop CLAN’s established service offering through its community network, as well as increase outreach opportunities.

She will be responsible for leading the Services team including: CLAN in the Community, Wellbeing Services and the Children & Family Service, as well as having a key role in the CLAN senior management team.

Mrs Mitchell said: “The role of Head of Cancer Support Services for CLAN is a key development as the organisation looks to the future of cancer support services and builds upon its existing services.

“CLAN’s community network offers a tremendous level of support in local communities and we are already exploring a number of new opportunities to further enhance and develop our support services throughout north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”

Dr Colette Backwell, Chief Executive of CLAN, said: “I am delighted to welcome Iona to her new role within CLAN and look forward to working with her in the development of CLAN’s vital cancer support services.

“Iona has been with us since 2013, developing an in-depth knowledge of the organisation and our clients which is hugely important as we shape our service provision for the future. This knowledge and experience is invaluable as we look to enhance our wide range of support services in the communities we serve.”
