A brand new Mini has made its final journey before being raffled off to raise funds and awareness for CLAN.
For the last six months, CLAN Cancer Support has been visiting the length and breadth of north-east Scotland with the car, selling tickets for the raffle at various shows, exhibitions and shopping centres within the region.
And now, the car has taken up residence within Bon Accord & St Nicholas in Aberdeen, where visitors to the centre will have daily opportunities to purchase a raffle ticket prior to it being drawn at the Bon Accord mall on Christmas Eve.
For the fourth year running, global energy company TAQA has donated the car to the charity; a support which allows all money raised to go directly towards CLAN’s provision for free support services to anyone affected by cancer across the north and north-east of Scotland.
The draw has also been supported by the area’s Rotary clubs who have actively supported an annual car raffle since 2000, helping raise over £500,000 for a variety of local causes in the process.
Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The brand new Mini has been on a tour of the north-east for the last few months, visiting a number of shows and exhibitions to sell tickets for our raffle which will be drawn on Christmas Eve.
“The car will be present within the Bon Accord mall from now until then and I can’t thank the centre enough for its continued support of the fundraising prize draw. We’ve been lucky in that we’ve seen fantastic support from all across the region this year and we can’t wait to get someone’s Christmas off to a cracking start with the news that they’ve won a new car!”
Craig Stevenson, manager of Bon Accord & St Nicholas, said: “We’re delighted to be home to the Mini until the charity finds it a new owner and I’m sure the draw will prove popular with those visiting the centre over the busy run-up to Christmas.
“CLAN is involved in valuable work across the communities it serves and we really did jump at the chance to continue to support what is always a successful fundraising prize draw.”
