Loganair Takes CLAN Kids To Teddy Bears’ Picnic
Children whose lives have been affected by cancer went on an adventure to Orkney for a Teddy Bear’s picnic themed activity day, yon Sunday, 17th June.
Organised by CLAN Cancer Support in partnership with Scotland’s Airline, Loganair, 22 children accompanied by their families were flown to Kirkwall from Aberdeen. After arriving in the Orkney the group was treated to a Teddy Bear’s picnic event at CLAN’s local wellbeing and support centre and garden, enjoying party games, snacks and refreshments in the company of Stormy Sam and Clancy, the official mascot of the RNLI and CLAN Cancer Support.
They then took part in a treasure hunt around Kirkwall’s town centre before being given a behind-the-scenes tour of the RNLI’s Orkney service station followed by their return flight back to Aberdeen.
Last year Loganair formed a strategic corporate partnership with Aberdeen-based cancer charity CLAN Cancer Support
CLAN operates support and wellbeing centres located across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland for anyone affected by cancer, and the partnership includes the provision of flights for staff visiting island centres until the end of 2018.
As Loganair’s charity partner for 2018, CLAN will be the beneficiaries of all inflight donations received and monies raised through fund raising activities by Loganair staff.
Ruth McIntosh, Fundraising Coordinator at CLAN Cancer Support, said: “To be able to offer such a special adventure to some of our clients who are affected by a cancer diagnosis – whether first hand or through a family member or friend – is truly special.
“During the year, CLAN supports around 300 children, teens and their families or carers who are affected by a cancer diagnosis and to be able to share memorable experiences like today with some of our clients is so important. We cannot thank Loganair enough for making this possible, along with the support of other local business and individuals. To see the delight on everyone’s faces, adults included, was very special.”

Our partners at CLAN organised an exciting schedule of activities up in Orkney and Loganair’s crew were on hand to deliver the star treatment for everyone onboard.
