Revolutionary Offering For Aberdeen Wins Award

Tempo-06

A city centre initiative that has captured the heart of the north-east has won a national award. Bon Accord received a prestigious Purple Apple award for it’s marketing efforts around Tempo, the innovative pay-per-minute space that opened in the centre in November.

Awarded for its success in the Cause Related Marketing category, Bon Accord was credited for the innovative marketing activity between the centre and CLAN Cancer Support for Tempo.

Unique to the city, everything you find inside Tempo is free to enjoy, the only cost is your time. At 10 pence a minute with 100% of proceeds going to CLAN Cancer Support, it’s time and money well spent.

The Purple Apple Awards were held in London on Thursday and recognised effective shopping and town centre marketing within the UK retail property sector.

Craig Stevenson, centre manager, Bon Accord, said: “Winning this award highlights the hard work of the entire team involved in making Tempo so successful. The initiative has raised thousands for CLAN over that last seven months and we have seen it go from strength to strength.

“Working together has been the key to making Tempo a success and we are delighted to have helped bring this unique concept to the city for our visitors to enjoy.

“We would like to thank everyone for their hard work to make it possible.”

Dr Colette Backwell, CLAN Cancer Support Chief Executive, added: "We are delighted that Tempo has been recognised by the Purple Apple awards. The team at Bon Accord has supported CLAN in many ways for some time now and to be able to work with them to raise funds and awareness by bringing this unique venture to Aberdeen has been exciting and rewarding.

“The long-standing partnership between Bon Accord and CLAN shows how the third sector and businesses can work closely together in such a positive and innovate way. This support plays a vital role in helping us continue to provide our support and wellbeing services for anyone affected by cancer throughout north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”
