Cancer support services in Aberdeenshire have been boosted by the expansion of services in Inverurie.
CLAN Cancer Support currently offers services from the Catholic Church Halls in the town’s North Street on Mondays and Thursdays. Requests for information, support and complementary therapy sessions has steadily grown.
In response, from 27 August the charity will also open on a Tuesday from 10 am – 4 pm with a relaxation class running from 10.30-11.30 hrs.
Claire Fraser, CLAN Cancer Support services manager, said: “We are committed to offering our free support services right in the heart of communities. I am delighted that we are able to increase our provision for people in Inverurie and the surrounding area.
“As awareness grows, demand in the area has risen and having an extra day will allow us to support more clients. People are welcome to drop in during opening hours, with no referral needed, and we are there to help those with a diagnosis, family members, carers and close friends.”
In Inverurie CLAN provides a drop-in service for support and information, complementary therapies, a weekly relaxation class and a monthly coffee morning, usually with a guest speaker. Counselling is also available by appointment.
