Demand for CLAN’s services grows in Banchory

CLAN Cancer Support is extending its provision of wellbeing services within Banchory.

CLAN received positive feedback from a well-attended open evening in the town, which gave an insight into a range of new services now being provided for those affected by cancer. These include nutrition services, skin consultations, lingerie advice and bra fitting.

The event, which featured talks from Estelle Robb and Julie Sangster, who provide CLAN’s specialist salon services and nutritionist, Cathy Clark, led to requests for the charity to provide further bra fitting and prosthesis support consultations, which have currently been arranged on a one-off basis.

Gemma Powell, CLAN area co-ordinator, said: “We have a wonderful specialist team that works as part of the salon and nutrition service committed to helping anyone affected by cancer. The wellbeing open evening has led to requests for further bra fitting and prosthesis support appointments. These are being offered on a stand-alone basis at the moment, but if there is enough demand we could look to offer this in the community on a permanent basis.

“We aim to make it easier for people in the area living with cancer to access support locally and would encourage anyone who wants to find out more about our services in Deeside to get in touch.”

Estelle Robb will be at CLAN Banchory in Ternan West Parish Church on the town’s High Street on Thursday, March 19, from 10am to 4pm.

To make an appointment to see Estelle for a bra fitting consultation or prosthesis support advice contact the Banchory centre on 07720737497,or email Banchory@clanhouse.org.
