CLAN to pilot support service in Lossiemouth
CLAN Cancer Support is to pilot a support and information service within Lossiemouth.
CLAN is to provide the service every Thursday from the town’s Moray Coast Medical Practice for an initial period of three months, offering free support, information and services to anyone affected by cancer.
The first session will take place on Thursday, March 5 from 1pm to 4pm. Members of the public are invited to head along and find out more about CLAN and the range of services it can offer.
As well as providing an insight into the charity and its work, CLAN will use the sessions to gain valuable feedback from the people of Lossiemouth and the surrounding area to gauge interest in establishing a permanent presence in the town.
CLAN established a support and wellbeing centre in nearby Elgin in 2013 in what was the charity’s first permanent presence in Moray. Its premises on the town’s High Street is open five days a week, with a variety of complementary therapies, social and wellbeing activities, a monthly men’s group and a dedicated children and family support service available.
Tracy Sellar, CLAN’s Moray area co-ordinator, said: “The uptake of CLAN’s services within Moray has continued to go from strength to strength and the support we’ve had from people in the area really has been fantastic. Due to demand we are looking to expand our offering across the region.
“The pilot sessions in Lossiemouth will be used to gauge interest and feedback from local people about the type of services CLAN offers and to raise awareness of the services we can provide.
“CLAN is committed to making its services as accessible as possible and we’re looking forward to working with the team at Moray Coast Medical Practice throughout the next three months. The first session in March will double up as an open day for anyone affected by cancer and we’re encouraging those interested in hearing how CLAN may be able to help them and their loved ones to head along on the day.”
