Clan Cancer Support is launching a free online gentle yoga class to provide fitness and wellbeing support to anyone impacted by a cancer diagnosis.
Delivered by a specially trained yoga therapy exercise instructor, the class will focus on gentle physical exercise and relaxation to help cancer patients prepare for and recover from surgery, chemotherapy and radiotherapy.
The hour-long class is free of charge and suitable for anyone undergoing a cancer journey, along with those who are supporting anyone through a diagnosis.
The class will launch on Monday, February 16 at 12.15pm and run for a six-week block with participants asked to register to attend in advance.
Karen Farquhar, Clan’s Orkney area service coordinator said: “Looking after your physical and mental wellbeing is key if you’re going through a cancer journey and our new gentle yoga class aims to increase overall fitness while supporting those with injuries and limitations.
“This online class is suitable for people of all fitness levels, and we hope it gives local people impacted by a diagnosis the option to access new ways of becoming active in a way that feels good for them.”
Clan Cancer Support provides free physical and emotional support to anyone impacted by cancer, with services including emotional support and counselling, NHS aligned complementary therapies, children and family services and a dedicated hospital transport service.
