Clan Cancer Support has expanded its Christmas tree collection service across Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire, with bookings now open for customers to arrange recycling for real trees after the festive season.
The service will run from January 5 – 16, with 23 AB postcodes allocated dedicated dates for collections charged at £12 per tree.
All money raised will help Clan provide its emotional and physical support services across the north-east, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, which cost the charity £2.7 million each year to sustain.
Logistics sponsors Freeland Freight Services and Hellmann Worldwide Logistics are partnering with the charity to provide transportation and volunteers to operate the collection service.
Keenan Recycling and Leys Estate, Banchory will further support the fundraising activity by recycling all trees collected.
Bilfinger will once again join the initiative by operating a drop off point from its base in Bridge of Don.
This is the second year the charity has run its Christmas tree collection service, with the project expanding to an additional three postcodes this season following demand and increased resource.
Teresa Bremner, Clan’s commercial manager, said: “At a time when so many of us are thinking about getting the decorations up, we are pleased to confirm Clan’s Christmas tree collection service is back for 2025.
“This is a practical way for people to support a local charity this festive season and we’d urge people to book their slots now to ensure they don’t miss out on the uplifts in their area.
“We’re incredibly grateful to each of the companies who have agreed to support this service as without them we would not be able to offer this initiative and raise funds for those who are impacted by a cancer diagnosis.”
Kevin Gaw, branch manager at Hellmann Worldwide Logistics, said: "We are proud to support Clan as part of this festive fundraising initiative, and we’re excited to work with the other stakeholders to maximise this opportunity for the charity.
“Hellmann Worldwide Logistics has been corporate supporters of Clan for more than three years and we’re very proud to help in any way we can to ensure the charity can continue to provide its much-needed services which are integral to cancer support in the north-east of Scotland and beyond."
Phil Sutherland, director at Freeland Freight, added: “We’re proud to support a service that makes responsible recycling straightforward while helping to fund the essential work Clan delivers throughout the region. It’s a small effort that creates a big impact.”
