CLAN benefits from generous Rotarians

CLAN's Local Coordinator, Fiona Cormack, and Fundraising Manager, Susan Crighton, receive cheque from Inverurie Rotarians. Inverurie Rotary Club has handed over a £5,000 donation to CLAN Cancer Support following a successful fundraising event.

The impressive total was raised as a result of a WAGS dinner at Inverurie Town Hall where over 100 guests were treated to talks by four guest speakers before voting for their favourite on the night.

Malcolm Allan, Jim Brown, Enda Logan and Graham Thomson entertained the audience in their own unique way, speaking about a range of topics from the UK’s financial crisis to the development of computer technology. The competition was chaired by Doug Duthie, who was victorious in last year’s event.

Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “We are incredibly grateful for the fantastic donation from Inverurie Rotary Club and we’d like to thank everyone who supported the event and made it such a success.

“The Rotary clubs across the organisation’s District 1010 have always been great supporters of CLAN and their hard work in raising money for the charity goes a long way in helping us to continue to provide free services for anyone affected by cancer.

Ron Kelly, president of the Inverurie Rotary Club, commented: “The dinner in April was a roaring success and I’d like to personally thank all those who attended, our main sponsors Ledingham Chalmers and the Rotary committee for allowing it to be such a great event.

“The total amount raised on the night was £10,000 which will be split between CLAN and a selection of Rotary charities and it’s a pleasure to be able to raise a significant amount for a spread of worthy causes.”
