Gail Stirling Robertson
This design features a number of jellyfish adrift in the ocean, washed along yet still bolstered. For some people, the most difficult chapter in life involves dealing with cancer. This particular book chapter shows the sea supporting the jellyfish as they drift, holding them up and carrying them forward. This sculpture is part of The Tall Ships Short Story Trail – a collection of 12 specially-commissioned BookBench works, as part of the artistic celebration of the Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025.
The Tall Ships Races Aberdeen 2025
The Tall Ships return to Aberdeen in July 2025, their first visit in 28 years. Host Port Partners: Aberdeen City Council, Port of Aberdeen and Aberdeen Inspired are delighted to partner with Clan Cancer Care and hope that this exciting trail will help people to discover more of our great city. This sculpture funded by UK Government. Like the Tall Ships, the benches are free to be enjoyed by all. Please take a seat and perhaps pause to reflect on Aberdeen’s remarkable relationship with the North Sea.
