Stronachs Doubles its CLAN Fundraising Target for 2016

CLAN Cancer Support has received a donation of £20,000 from an Aberdeen law firm, which could fund around 1,000 counselling or complementary therapy sessions for people affected by cancer.

Staff at Stronachs LLP selected CLAN as their nominated charity for 2016 and organised a series of fundraising events throughout the year with the goal of raising £10,000 for the cause.

The law firm achieved that target within a matter of hours, raising more than £10,000 at a ladies’ afternoon tea party. Employees also took on a number of sporting challenges throughout the year including a group of cyclists from the firm conquering the 175 mile cycle route “Ride the North”, raising £4,500, and a team of runners completing the 10k Baker Hughes race, raising £2,400.

The Stronachs workforce raised the additional funds from bake sales, dress down days and collection tins in their office.

Carol Crowther, partner at Stronachs and chair of the firm’s social and charities committee said: “CLAN Cancer Support acts as a lifeline for many people in Aberdeen and beyond whose lives have been affected by cancer, so it’s been a huge honour to help raise funds for them this year.

“I think the fact that we managed to raise double our fundraising target not only shows the generosity of everyone who contributed, but also how valued the charity is within the local community.

“I’d like to thank my colleagues at Stronachs many of whom went above and beyond in their efforts, and of course our clients, professional contacts and members of the public. Without their support it would not have been possible for us to raise this sum for CLAN, a truly deserving, highly respected local charity.”

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager said: “We’re so grateful to Stronachs for this extremely generous donation and indeed their tremendous support throughout the year, we have been completely overwhelmed by their fundraising efforts.

“The amount raised by Stronachs will allow us to continue to deliver a range of invaluable wellbeing and support services, including counselling or complementary therapy sessions, for clients throughout north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.”
