Over £17,000 raised at annual lunch
Individuals from across the north-east have come together to raise over £17,000 at an annual fundraising lunch for a cancer support charity.
Over 390 guests attended the event hosted by CLAN Cancer Support at the Marcliffe Hotel on Wednesday, April 17 in what is one of the charity’s most important fundraisers of the year. For the third year in a row, the event was sponsored by BP; a sponsorship that enables every penny raised to go directly to CLAN
The lunch, which sold out within weeks of tickets going on sale, saw guests enjoy a two course meal as well as a spot of shopping, courtesy of stalls from Berry Scrumptious, JJ Gifts and the CLAN shops.
Attendees also listened to a talk by Joanne Golder who shared her experiences with cancer and spoke of how CLAN provided support throughout her journey.
Susan Crighton, fundraising manager at CLAN, said: “The CLAN Lunch is an incredibly important fundraiser for us and it was great to see the event sell out so quickly.
“I’d like to offer my thanks to all those who attended, those who exhibited, our generous sponsors BP and everyone at CLAN itself for helping make the day so special.”

CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
