Kintore Cupcakes & Cocktails for CLAN
More than £3,500 has been raised for CLAN Cancer Support after a successful event.
Lorna Milton, owner and director of Élan Hair Design, was first approached by regular customer Carolyn Crews who was looking into the possibility of organising a fundraising event in aid of CLAN.
Carolyn (41) first benefited from the charity’s support after she was taken ill with cancer in 2012. Having made a full recovery, she was eager to give something back to CLAN and particularly to the staff based at the charity’s Inverurie branch.
The cupcakes and cocktails evening, held at Kintore village hall, was attended by around 85 ladies. The event raised a total of £3,761 with all proceeds going to CLAN Cancer Support.
The evening’s entertainment included various massage and spa therapies, carried out by a number of CLAN’s therapists, as well as hair styling from members of Élan’s team.
There were also a number of top prizes up for grabs as part of a raffle, including a night’s stay at luxury serviced apartments, The Spires in Aberdeen. The event was also supported by The Peerie Pantry in Kintore who donated canapés for the evening
Additionally, Carolyn’s husband Callum (43) volunteered to have his legs waxed; alone raising more than a thousand pounds for charity. The couple live in Kintore with their children Matthew (14) and Joshua (10).
Carolyn, who works as an assistant play leader at Kintore playgroup, said: “I’m extremely grateful for Élan’s support in making the night a success. In the run up to the event they helped with publicity, organised the bookings for all the different treatments, sold tickets at the salon and donated several prizes for the raffle.
“I was fortunate to make a full recovery from my illness but I couldn’t have done it without the support given to both me and my family by CLAN. The staff, especially in Inverurie, really made a huge difference and it means a great deal to be able to give something back.”
Lorna Milton, who runs Élan Hair Design along with husband Gordon and their daughters Lanice and Lauren, said: “It proved to be a terrific occasion and I hope everyone thoroughly enjoyed themselves. A lot of hard work went into organising this event and great credit has to go to Carolyn for her determination to help such a great cause.”
