GPH Builders Merchants, leading independent builders' merchants give cash boost to their charity of the year Clan Cancer Support.

GPH, who are an independent builders’ merchant in Aberdeenshire, with branches in Inverurie, Westhill, Stonehaven and Ellon, chose to support the local cancer charity throughout 2020, but their plans were put on hold due to the pandemic. With workers returning to the office the team were desperate to help give the charity much needed support.

Leanne Jones, Design and Marketing Co-ordinator at GPH Builders, said, "We are delighted to be able to support Clan as our charity of the year. We planned to fundraise for Clan throughout 2020, but we put them on hold due to the pandemic. With people coming back from furlough we decided to have a Halloween celebration to raise funds for Clan and to bring everyone back together as a team. Everyone dressed up across our different branches, sold spooky cakes and we had a pumpkin competition helping to raise over £1,000, which was matched by the company.

"Clan is a fantastic local charity, and with so many people across the north-east affected by a cancer diagnosis, it is more important than ever to lend our support to them."

Clan has supported people in communities across the north-east and Northern Isles affected by a cancer diagnosis for over 37 years and have continued to help people throughout the pandemic. Since March they have provided over 3,500 support sessions, 620 professional counselling sessions and 2,000 support calls for people affected by a cancer diagnosis.

Ruth McIntosh, Fundraising Coordinator at Clan, said, "We are delighted to have the support of GPH Builders Merchants this year! This year has been challenging for us all, but especially for those facing a cancer diagnosis. That is why our support is more vital than ever, and thanks to the support of companies like GPH Builders Merchants, we will be here for people facing a cancer diagnosis now and in the years to come."
