Fourth Annual CLAN Cavalcade Takes To The Roads Of Moray
Roads across Morayshire were filled with the sight of a cavalcade of vintage and classic cars in support of a leading north-east cancer charity.
The fourth annual CLAN Cancer Support Cavalcade set off from Cullen yesterday (Friday, September 8) taking in various landmarks throughout the region, before returning to Elgin in the evening.
More than 17 cars and motorcycles took part with a Ferrari F355, MGC Roadster, Porsche 911 and Morris Minor Convertable among the vehicles taking part.
The route took in some of the most picturesque parts of Morayshire including Ballindalloch Castle, Grantown on Spey and Brodie Castle, before returning to Elgin to enjoy a celebratory supper at the Sunninghill Hotel.
Tracy Sellar, CLAN Cancer Support Cancer Services Area Manager, said: “We are delighted to welcome the CLAN Cavalcade back for a fourth year, this year touring some of the most popular landmarks in Moray.
“The event not only allows people the opportunity to get together and enjoy their passion for vintage and class cars and motorcycles, it also helps to raise awareness and funds for the work CLAN Cancer Support carries out to support people affected by cancer, not only in Moray, but across north-east Scotland, Orkney and Shetland.
“In 2016, the cavalcade route took us via CLAN’s wellbeing and support centres in Turriff, Ballater and Elgin. This was just a small section of the wide geographical area CLAN’s services reach, but it really did demonstrate to those taking part the scale and challenges CLAN tackles in providing wellbeing and support services for anyone affected by cancer in largely rural areas of Scotland.
“Thank you to the local businesses and groups who have supported this year’s event and to everyone who took part or came out along the route to show their support to the drivers and the work that CLAN Cancer Support carries out.”
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort, support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness.
