CLAN to go the extra mile with shop initiative

It is a retail trend which has been embraced by music stars, television celebrities and world famous designers – now a north-east charity is joining the pop-up shop revolution.

CLAN Cancer Support – which has a permanent retail presence in Aberdeen, Ballater, Kirkwall and Lerwick – is taking to the road this weekend to set up shop in Aberdeenshire.

The charity will open the doors to its first pop-up store at Thainstone, near Inverurie, on Sunday (September 14) during the popular Sunday market.

Also taking pride of place alongside the pop-up shop will be a brand new Mini, which will be raffled towards the end of the year to raise funds for the charity. The car, for the fourth year running, has been donated by TAQA.

Lorna Gates, CLAN’s senior shop manager, said: “We have an incredibly loyal customer base for our shops, which are all well established and stock a fantastic range of goods – from clothes through to household goods and even collector’s items.

“We were delighted when the ANM Group offered us the opportunity to stage the pop-up shop at Thainstone and we’re really looking forward to bringing something a little bit different to the market on Sunday.

“We’re always looking for new ways to promote our shops and showcase what we do, so this is a perfect way to do that. Having the Mini with us will add to the interest, with the raffle already well supported after the car was taken out over the summer to lots of shows and events.”
