CLAN to say Thank You for 30 years of service

A north-east cancer support charity is to thank those for their involvement in the last 30 years at a special commemorative events in Aberdeen, Kirkwall and Shetland. CLAN Cancer Support is inviting former employees, therapists, counsellors and volunteers to a thank you event over the first weekend of October to help celebrate the charity’s 30th anniversary. The event will give attendees the chance to look back on how the charity has grown since 1983, with a number of photographs and videos charting CLAN’s history on display. Chief executive Debbie Thomson said: “When CLAN began in 1983, the charity was supported by a small group of volunteers as it looked to initially establish itself in Aberdeen. “Over the last 30 years, we have seen thousands of volunteers, counsellors, therapists and employees help develop the charity and our services, allowing us to reach people across the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland and we’d like to say thank you for playing a part in making this happen. “The event will give people the chance to look back on the last 30 years with fond memories, but will also allow us to look forward to exciting times ahead for CLAN.” The charity has scheduled a year-long celebratory programme that will feature a series of fundraising and awareness events linked to the 30th anniversary theme. These will include sporting dates, special events, and other innovative fundraisers as well as the 30 Days for CLAN challenge in September – in which participants will be invited to devote the month to fundraising for the charity.
