CLAN to host ladies’ lunch in Orkney

CLAN Cancer support is to give an insight into the services it can provide in Orkney at its upcoming ladies’ lunch in Kirkwall.

CLAN is to hold the event on Thursday, September 4, at the Orkney Hotel in Kirkwall and is inviting local businesswomen and individuals to come along and learn more about various aspects of the charity.

Alongside the lunch, guests will be treated to a talk from CLAN’s islands’ co-ordinator Karen Scott who will provide an update on the services the charity currently provides in Orkney. CLAN’s fundraising manager Susan Crighton will also give a short talk on the importance of CLAN’s shops and the role they play in the charity’s overall fundraising campaign.

Guests will also hear about the charity’s growing children and family service from CLAN’s Dawn Carnegie. CLAN’s children and family service currently works with over 70 families throughout the north and north-east, providing support for over 100 young people and nearly 65 adults.

Karen Scott, CLAN’s island’s co-ordinator, said: “Our ladies’ lunch will give information on the charity to people who perhaps aren’t already familiar with the work of CLAN in Orkney. It will also be a chance for supporters of the charity to hear about some of the up and coming plans that CLAN has for the island, as well as the latest fundraising campaigns and services that they can get involved with.

“I’m delighted to welcome Dawn and Susan to the lunch and I’d encourage anyone who would like to attend to come forward and express an interest; it really is shaping up to be an informative and fun afternoon.”

CLAN’s fundraising manager, Susan Crighton, will also be based in the charity’s centre in Kirkwall on Wednesday, September 3.

She said: “We very much rely on local support to ensure that we can continue to provide services within Kirkwall and the surrounding area. I’m looking forward to catching up with as many people as possible during my visit and would encourage any local fundraisers and supporters to pop in to the centre.”

Anyone interested in attending the ladies’ lunch is asked asked to contact CLAN in Orkney on 873393 or email orkney@clanhouse.org
