CLAN Seeks New Board Members and Ambassadors

CLAN Cancer Support is inviting individuals who have specific experience and skills that could benefit the charity to express an interest in joining its board of directors, or taking on the role of an ambassador.

CLAN’s board currently consists of 11 members and is chaired by local businessman Kenny Anderson who took up the position in 2014. All board members share their time with the charity and work closely with CLAN’s management team on a voluntary basis to ensure the charity’s ongoing success.

Alongside its board members, the charity is also supported by a range of ambassadors who provide valuable assistance in sharing their skills, introducing contacts and networking. Current ambassadors include Mel Edwards MBE, Paul Lawrie MBE, swimmer Robbie Renwick and Professor Sir Lewis Ritchie amongst others.

CLAN’s chairman Kenny Anderson said: “Becoming a member of CLAN’s board of directors is a fantastic opportunity for those who want to help give something back to the community alongside offering access to their own specific skillset and experience.

“Our current board consists of individuals from all backgrounds and sectors with specific experience in a range of avenues including business, medical and financial sectors. The Board, as a whole, plays a vital role in helping CLAN build successful relationships with both business individuals and companies. The north-east is such a well-connected part of Scotland in terms of its business community and to have access to this network is extremely important and of such huge benefit to CLAN as an organisation.

“We’re interested in hearing from those that think they may have something unique to add to the board alongside a desire to help play an important role in supporting the overall development of CLAN. The charity currently operates across the north and north-east of Scotland, providing free support services to anyone affected by cancer so it’s an incredibly rewarding organisation to be a part of.

“CLAN is also aided by a number of ambassadors who, despite not sitting on the board, regularly give their time to assist us in a number of areas including events, fundraising and public relations. These individuals are of great importance to us and again we’d be thrilled to hear from anyone interested in representing CLAN in this way.”

“From my own personal viewpoint, being involved with CLAN is extremely fulfilling and to be able to play a small part in helping those affected by cancer have access to the appropriate comfort, support and information is why we’re all involved; your help can go such a long way.”
