CLAN seeking volunteers in Fraserburgh

A local cancer support charity is appealing for new volunteers to help with the provision of free services for anyone affected by cancer in the Fraserburgh area.

CLAN Cancer Support is appealing to potential volunteers to attend an informal recruitment meeting on Monday, June 3, between 6pm to 8pm, within The Hub of the Fraserburgh Development Trust building located on the town’s High Street.

Hosted by the charity’s volunteer co-ordinator Jane Adams and Aberdeenshire area co-ordinator Ruth Cantrill, the session will give potential volunteers the chance to find out more about how people can get involved with CLAN.

Jane Adams explained: “CLAN currently has more than 360 volunteers across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland, giving in excess of 40,000 hours of help per year. With the success of the recently opened Fraserburgh centre, we are looking to increase the pool of volunteers that we currently have in the area.

“We are specifically looking for support volunteers to help in the centre on Mondays, as well as volunteers to help with fundraising and awareness events that will take place across Fraserburgh and the surrounding region.

“Our volunteers are invaluable to the success of the charity and I urge anyone who is considering giving up some of their spare time, to come forward and help CLAN, What they offer in doing this is much appreciated by so many and without them, the charity wouldn’t be where it is today.”

For more information on the centre and the support services it will offer, please contact Aberdeenshire area co-ordinator Ruth Cantrill on 07720737500 or email ruth.cantrill@clanhouse.org
