CLAN expands support services in Stonehaven
Cancer support services in Aberdeenshire have been boosted by the expansion of a well established centre.
CLAN Cancer Support opened a base at Stonehaven in May 2010 and demand for information and therapy sessions, run on Tuesdays and Thursdays, has steadily grown.
In response the charity has rolled out its services with the addition of a Monday slot, from 6-8.30pm, and provision on a Wednesday from 10am to 1.30pm.
The Stonehaven centre provides a drop-in service for support and information as well as complementary therapies. CLAN also offer counselling by appointment, a fortnightly relaxation class and a quarterly support group.
Claire Fraser, CLAN Cancer Support services manager, said: “We are committed to investing in our services and are delighted to be able to offer improved provision in Stonehaven and the surrounding area.
“As awareness grows, demand in the area has risen and we will be able to cater for more clients with these extra days. The evening session is designed to cater for those who perhaps work during the day and we know from the feedback we have had that it will be well received.
“People are welcome to drop in during opening hours, with no referral needed, and we are there to help those with a diagnosis, family members, carers and close friends.”
CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort, support and information, free of charge for anyone of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness.
