CLAN and I&K Motors in 30th Anniversary Partnership

A unique double anniversary celebration is set to boost a North-east charity’s fundraising effort by tens of thousands of pounds. CLAN Cancer Support has been chosen by Inverurie car dealership I&K Motors as its chosen charity for 2013 – with both organisations sharing a major milestone this year. CLAN and I&K were founded in 1983 and each is planning a programme of events to mark their 30th anniversaries. While the Aberdeen-based cancer support charity embarks on its own 30th themed fundraising drive it will also benefit from a number of donations from the car supercentre. The first major windfall will be from a Burns Supper hosted by I&K at Inverurie Town Hall last month (January). The event raised in excess of £21,000 for CLAN. I&K Motors managing director Steve Innes said: “When we discovered we shared our birthday with CLAN there was no hesitation in offering to lend our support. As a business we pride ourselves on a family feel and that is a value close to CLAN’s own heart, with everyone aware of the wonderful work the charity carries out. “The support and services provided by CLAN are incredibly important and maintaining that requires an enormous amount of hard work. At I&K we are delighted to be able to help with the fundraising effort.” The company will also be aiming to raise awareness of CLAN by emblazoning a courtesy car with the charity’s new 30th anniversary logo as well as using it in high profile advertising campaigns. Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The support for our 30th anniversary is a wonderful gesture from Steve Innes and his team at I&K. We are delighted to be working with them and really appreciate everything they are doing for us, with the fantastic donation from the Burns Supper giving our own 30th campaign a real headstart.” CLAN Cancer Support is an independent charity which provides comfort support and information, free of charge, for anyone, of any age, affected by any type of cancer. CLAN aims to support people to reduce anxiety, stress and to increase their ability to cope with the effects of a serious illness. Based in Aberdeen, the charity covers the whole of Grampian, Orkney and Shetland. CLAN has a presence in Ballater, Inverurie, Peterhead, Stonehaven, Kirkwall and Lerwick.
