Katy Gifford - Chair

Katy is a chartered accountant with more than 30 years’ experience and is currently Chief Executive Officer of Aubin Group, a company engaged in the design and development of specialist chemicals for use in industries including oil and gas. She is a governor of Robert Gordon University and a previous Board member and Chair of Aberdeen Foyer.

Ceri Ritchie

Ceri is Sector Manager Food and Drink at SAC Consulting, a division of Scotland’s Rural College (SRUC,) and has worked within the UK food and drink sector for 35 years. Before moving to Scotland Ceri worked as a Commodity Group Manager for the Co-operative Wholesale Society and was responsible for procuring multi-million pound product ranges for supermarkets across the UK.

Ceri’s current activities include project management and advising businesses within Scotland’s dynamic food and drink industry. She is also a volunteer Skills Ambassador for the Food and Drink Federation Scotland and a STEMNET Ambassador bringing industry experience to the school curriculum.

Mike Killeen

Mike Killeen has more than 25 years of experience in the oil and gas industry and is currently chief operating officer at Serica Energy. Mike has strong personal and professional links to the Shetland Islands and will participate in the jarl squad in the 2024 Lerwick Up- Helly-Aa.

George Ramsay

George is a clinical academic at the University of Aberdeen. He also works as a Colorectal Surgeon at Aberdeen Royal Infirmary. His main interests are optimising outcomes for surgical patients and increasing the academic output of the Department of Surgery. He is also interested in improving the management of Emergency General Surgical patients.

He undertakes cancer resections as part of his clinical work and therefore is familiar with cancer services available within the region. By working with Clan, he aims to improve the links between the NHS and the support that Clan can provide for patients and their families.

Laura Birnie

Laura is a chartered accountant with 20 years of finance experience both in audit practice and industry. Through her career Laura has worked in a variety of roles ranging from Audit Manager, Group Financial Controller, Finance Director and is currently a Senior Specialist with Hutcheon Mearns, supporting the finance requirements of businesses on a short to medium term basis. These positions and experience have enabled Laura to build a strong finance and business management skill set which she can use to support Clan.

Bobby board

Bobby Lamberton

Full time general practitioner for 33 years, retiring from medical partnership 2019 and thereafter continuing in part time GP locum work across a few practices in Aberdeen City & Shire. An enthusiastic educator in post graduate GP training and passionate about continuity of care in family medicine promoting relational practice at every opportunity.

Extensive experience as a leader in local youth movement encouraging the personal development of children and young adults.

An interest in the primary and secondary health care interface and trusting this background allows him to contribute to future Clan initiatives with their client group.

Claire Stevenson

Having moved to Aberdeen to study Biomedical Science with a plan to continue with physiotherapy Masters, the twists and turns of life took the route of media and Claire has had a career in north east radio broadcasting for over 14 years.

During that time Claire has gained a wealth of experience in both organising and hosting a wide range of events from awards ceremonies to fundraisers, and is now a regular fixture hosting the Aberdeen FC hospitality suite.

Claire is keen to promote the great work of Clan and try to help find a new audience to expand on fundraising success.

David Mcewing

David is a solicitor with more than 30 years’ experience in private practice, and is currently a partner at international law firm Addleshaw Goddard. He is co-head of the Energy and Utilities practice.

Dr Deborah O’Neil

Dr O’Neil trained as an immunologist in internationally acclaimed laboratories including University College London, UC San Diego and University of Ghent before moving to Aberdeen to establish NovaBiotics within the University of Aberdeen’s Rowett Research Institute. 

NovaBiotics is a privately held clinical stage company developing immune based therapies for life-threatening and life-limiting-diseases. Deborah was made OBE in the Queen’s 2020 birthday honour’s list for services to biotechnology, industry and charity.

Dr Kirsten Cassidy

Kirsten Cassidy worked as a GP in Insch, Aberdeenshire. Now retired, Kirsten was the lead GP for cancer and palliative care in Grampian from 2009 to 2024.

During that time she worked at local, regional and national level to improve pathways for cancer patients as well as improving communication between the community, hospital and cancer support organisations.
