Clan Cancer Support is a well-established, local charity providing emotional and practical support to people affected by cancer, their family, carers and friends. Services are freely offered to all from pre-diagnosis, prehabilitation and diagnosis, through treatment and beyond at 11 support and wellbeing centres located across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland. Digital innovation developed during the Covid pandemic has extended Clan's reach, offering more services across a broader geographical area than before. The charity’s aim is to help people live with and beyond their or their loved one’s cancer diagnosis and improve the quality of life for all those who turn to the charity for help and support. The organisation has around 60 full-time and part-time employees and contracted staff, supplemented by a significant community of committed and talented volunteers. Our Services Team are vital in the community and an exciting opportunity is now available to join their team.

Clan currently provides services from its Clan centre in Inverurie and also an outreach centre in Alford. These services are free for anyone affected by cancer and compromise of a range of complimentary therapies, counselling services, a drop-in service, information and resource point.

The role of the Aberdeenshire Area Co-ordinator is to ensure the daily provision of appropriate and responsive Wellbeing Services to the people of Aberdeenshire, including the management and coordination of a small team of support and events volunteers. The post holder will be required to take an innovative approach to service delivery, to overcome the challenges of covering a diverse geographical region. The post holder will be responsible for the enhancement and expansion of wellbeing services to effectively meet the needs of the individuals impacted by cancer in Aberdeenshire.

In addition, the Area Services Co-ordinator will seek opportunities alongside Clan’s Mainland Cancer Support Services Area Manager and Head of Cancer Support Services to make these services more widely available in other locations throughout Aberdeenshire.

The role will also maintain responsibility for developing and maintaining existing relationships with potential fundraiser, donors and supporters of Clan Cancer Support across the areas. To maximise fundraising potential, the post holder will be responsible for leading a range of fundraising with the area. Further details can be found in the attached job description.
