Duke of Rothesay visits CLAN marking 30 years of support

CLAN Cancer Support today (Monday September 30) welcomed a special visitor to its Aberdeen Support Centre as it continues to mark its 30th year of providing support services to anyone affected by cancer.

CLAN welcomed The Duke of Rothesay on a tour of CLAN House, where he met a range of clients as well as volunteers, staff and board members who have been working with the charity to provide free cancer support services across north-east Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

The Duke of Rothesay also learnt about the complementary therapies that the charity can offer its clients and was also shown around CLAN Haven, a unique accommodation facility that people who are affected by cancer and their families can stay in when they are attending Aberdeen hospitals for appointments and treatment. A plaque was also unveiled to mark his visit.

CLAN chief executive Debbie Thomson said: “We were absolutely thrilled that The Duke of Rothesay was able to visit CLAN House to learn about the invaluable work and services that we can provide here in Aberdeen and across Aberdeenshire, Moray and the Northern Isles to anyone affected by cancer.

“This visit has capped a memorable month for CLAN and it’s been fantastic to see so many people come together to help us mark our 30th anniversary – a real landmark for our organisation.”

The celebrations for the charity continue this week with a special thank you event for all past and present volunteers, staff, therapists and councillors at CLAN House on Friday, October 4.
