Contract awarded for New CLAN Building

Morrison Construction, part of the Galliford Try group, has been awarded the contract to build a new £3 million cancer support centre in Aberdeen on behalf of CLAN (Cancer Link Aberdeen and North).

The new centre will be located on Westburn Road, and will provide approximately 2,000 sq metres of purpose-built facilities on two floors. The building will include a drop-in area, therapy and counselling rooms, accommodation for people who have to travel to Aberdeen, dedicated space for children and a garden.

Commenting on the new work, Mike Bruce, operations director for Morrison Construction’s North East business, said: “This is an inspiring and exciting project to be working on. Morrison is delighted to be involved in the construction of this facility which will aid all those affected by cancer within the North east of Scotland”.

CLAN’s chief executive, Debbie Thomson, said, “After many months of prepation we are very excited that work is underway for our new cancer support centre. We look forward to working with Morrison Construction on what is a very significant project for us and more importantly for the community.”

Work got underway last week and is due to complete next summer.

Morrison Construction operates from five regional offices (Inverness, Aberdeen, Dundee, Grangemouth and Edinburgh) and employs more than 650 staff in Scotland.
