CLAN organises charity walk for Mothers Day

CLAN Cancer Support is urging people to get together and take part a special event held in Aberdeen’s Duthie Park later this month. CLAN will will host a Mothers Day Walk on Sunday, March 18 from 10am to noon. The charity is encouraging both families and groups to come together and walk in memory of a loved one at the picturesque park. The event, which is open to participants of all ages and abilities, follows a 1KM route around the park which can be lapped as many times as individuals choose. This is the third year that the charity has organised the event, having been moved by a similar event organised by one of the charity’s dedicated supporters. The walk is continuing to grow in popularity and Susan Crighton, CLAN Cancer Support fundraising manager, believes it offers an opportunity for people to come together and remember loved ones in an extra special way. She said: “This is the third year that we have organised the Mothers Day walk and we have been encouraged by the number of people who would like the opportunity to do something a little bit different to remember a loved one. “We have had everyone from groups of friends to families and individuals taking part and the encouragement and support felt during the morning has been so heartfelt. “Whether someone has lost a son, daughter, or mother, CLAN recognises that Mothers Day can be a significant day for many people and we hope our walk may encourage people to take the time to celebrate the memories they have.” The Duthie Park walk will start at 10am and continue until midday. The cost of entering the walk is £5 per adult – children walk for free. Participants can also choose to collect sponsorship for the walk, however this is not obligatory. Anyone who would like to take part can contact Moureen Wilson on 01224 647000 or moureen.wilson@clanhouse.org to register.
