CLAN Opens Shop in Lerwick

CLAN Cancer Support will open the door to the latest phase of the development of its Lerwick-based centre next week (Monday, 13 August).

The charity will launch its first charity shop in Shetland at its premises, which opened in June, at 39 Commercial Road, Lerwick.

This marks an important stage in the development of CLAN’s services in Shetland as the charity cements its commitment to providing support and services to the local community.

The shop will be open Monday to Saturday from 10am to 2pm, when shop and fundraising coordinator Phyllis Stickle and her team of volunteers will welcome donations from the community.

CLAN fundraising manager, Susan Crighton, hopes the shop will become an important part of the local community.

She said: “The support CLAN has received over the years from the community in Shetland has been overwhelming and I am delighted that we are in a position to repay this by developing a wonderful centre in Lerwick which can bring together support, services and also provide a focal point for fundraising.

“Our shops play a crucial role in raising vital funds to ensure we can continue to provide the high level of support and services throughout Grampian, Orkney and Shetland.

“We have already heard from many supporters who have been collecting donations for the shop, storing them in garages and basements throughout the island which is fantastic. I am sure the shop will get off to a very successful start.”
