The Total E&P UK Health Fair included information on fitness, healthy eating, relaxation, smoking cessation, emergency first aid, travel health and workplace health. The event was organised by TOTAL’s appointed occupational health specialist Capita Health and Wellbeing.

The fair had 17 exhibitors – including Robert Gordon University Faculty of Health, SK:N, Run 4 It and Posturite where visitors had the opportunity to undergo checks for blood pressure, participate in a rowing challenge, have a skin consultation and learn about healthy eating.

The day also featured four presentations, including a 45-minute talk on how to save a life. Speakers from the British Heart Foundation, and Aberdeen-based cancer charities UCAN and CLAN were also in attendance. A series of short relaxation sessions for staff were delivered by a Capita occupational psychotherapist.

TOTAL donated £1,500 to the fundraising efforts of the main charities in attendance, with the money split equally between CLAN, UCAN and the British Heart Foundation.

Alison Rosie, an Aberdeen-based Key Account Manager at Capita Health and Wellbeing, and Capita Occupational Health Nurse, Jill Carmichael, organised the fair.

Alison said: “As well as experts from Capita, we brought together different companies and organisations to raise awareness of the avenues leading to a healthier lifestyle. We’re delighted that people took something from the event that will have a positive impact on their daily lives and raised funds for worthy causes in the process”

“We would also like to thank TOTAL for its support and interest in raising the awareness of a wide variety of health options for its team.”

Hazel Clinton, Senior HR Advisor, at Total E&P UK, said: “The fair was an effective way to let people know what options are available to them in pursuing a healthier lifestyle. The response was fantastic and to be able to support some very worthwhile charities was an added bonus. We’re looking to host similar health promotion events in the future.”

Jill Carmichael said: “We were delighted with the quality of exhibitors and presentations. The fair, and supporting local charities, is something we are looking to do for other businesses looking to enhance staff wellbeing.”
