CLAN looking for nippy dippers to take the plunge on Boxing Day

CLAN Cancer Support is appealing for hardy souls to undertake a popular Boxing Day dip on its behalf.

CLAN is taking part in the Nippy Dippers swim at Aberdeen beach on Boxing Day and is again looking for a group of fearless volunteers to help raise funds for the charity.

Last year, CLAN had almost 40 people brave the North Sea, helping to raise over £5,000 which enables the charity to provide free cancer support services across the north-east of Scotland, Moray, Orkney and Shetland.

Susan Crighton, CLAN’s fundraising manager, said: “The event has really grown in popularity in recent years and despite the freezing conditions, we always find willingness from people to take part.

“The dip is a great example of really challenging yourself to do something for charity and we would be delighted for anyone to come forward to take part on behalf of CLAN.

“We were bowled over by the support shown at last year’s event and to raise £5,000 was fantastic. Hopefully we can better this amount next month which would cap off a fantastic year for the charity.”

The event begins at 10.30am on Boxing Day. For further information please contact CLAN’s Steph Dowling on 01224 647000 or email steph.dowling@clanhouse.org
